Documents Required for Enrollment:

Florida Certificate of Immunization - covering those communicable diseases for which immunization is required by the Department of Children and Families. (This certificate shall become part of the student's permanent record to be transferred when the student transfers, is promoted, or changes schools.)
Certification of School-Entry Health Examination - performed within one year prior to enrollment (Certification of physicals performed by out-of-state physicians within the year of enrollment are acceptable.)
Proof of Residency - for school district (i.e. current utility bill, deposit receipt or lease/mortgage agreement)
Proof of Legal Guardianship - if student does not live with natural parents
Name and Address of Former School
Withdrawal Papers - from former school
Student's Social Security Number - waiver can be requested
Current IEP - of any exceptional educational program in which the student is enrolled
Medical and Emergency Information
Florida Driver's License - with current residency

Registration

Transferring Credits

Credits earned from state or regionally public or private schools will be accepted based on face value and subject to validation on an official transcript. Home Education credits are accepted on the basis of criteria set forth in the Student Progression Plan.

Grade Placement/Homeroom Assignment

Promotion in high school is determined by the credits earned in a school year plus other approved programs. Placement in homerooms is also based on the number of credits a student has earned. Students must earn the following number of credits to be promoted and placed in the next higher grade level homeroom:

Adult and Community School Program

The Escambia County School District operates the adult and community school program at selected high schools. Additional satellite classes are held at elementary and middle schools, community centers, and workplaces located throughout the community. Community school classes are organized in response to requests of students and generally meet evenings and Saturdays. The community school coordinator at each high school can provide additional information.

Work or credits earned in a Florida state-approved adult education program for purposes of acceleration or remediation shall be applied to requirements for graduation for a standard high school program provided that:

Any course taken in the adult program is one, which is also offered in the regular 9-12 high school program.
The high school principal approves, in advance, courses for which credit is to be transferred.
No more than FOUR credits earned in an adult program may be granted toward the awarding of a standard high school diploma.

Dual Enrollment

The purpose of the dual enrollment program which provides articulation between high schools and post secondary institutions is to provide advanced instructional experiences for academically talented students. The articulation agreement between Escambia County School District and Pensacola State College sets the following guidelines:

Students are eligible for the program if they meet the following criteria:

Grade point average of 3.0
ACT, SAT and PERT (See Table Below)

Exceptional Student Education

Classes are available at all sites. Most students are served in a varying exceptionalities model in which students with various disabilities are educated in the same classroom. These students are grouped based on functioning level. The range of service options extends from consultation to self-contained classrooms. Some disabilities may require specialized classes.

Florida Virtual School Online

Credit may granted through Florida Virtual School Online provided that:

The course is in the DOE Course Code Directory.
The course is approved in advance by the principal or designee and the parent.
The counselor has signed off on the enrollment form.

Preparing for a Successful Career

Career education is a comprehensive study program with structured career paths leading to continuous education beyond high school and to life-long learning. This process begins in elementary school with career awareness activities that enhance the student's understanding of self, career options, and the role of technology. It continues in the middle with career and technical exploratory classes which help students develop long range plans for the high school and post secondary years. High school students are provided the opportunity to participate in a variety of career and technical programs of study. This continuous process prepares a student after high school to attend a university, community college, or vocational technician training center and/or technical college. It prepares a student for entry into any career field. Please refer to your guidance counselor for updated information.

Summer School

If offered, students may attend summer school to:

Repeat a required course with an earned grade of "D" or "F".
Complete a course to maintain normal pupil progression.
Achieve the required GPA necessary to graduate.

GPA equals the total of the quality points divided by the total of the semester grades. This calculation reflects the unweighted GPA.
